Our client is a global adhesive specialist in industrial manufacturing, construction and consumer markets. The group is one of the leader, playing in a fast growing industry. We recruit a Global Operations Controller H/F

The role covers 4 regions with 39 manufacturing sites for 1.4€ billion sales.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Complexity of multiple technologies and high volume of products in different segments and channels.
  • Matrix model organisation with a regional structure supplemented by global categories
  • Strong growth objectives defined, both organic and via M&A with recent acquisitions being integrated into the organisation
  • The role reports to Financial Controller Global Business Unit C&C,  in doted line to the Industrial Director Global Business Unit C&C, and is member of the Industrial leadership team of the GBU (€1,4B sales in 47 entities, 4 geographical regions)

ROLE

  • Co-ordination of industrial controlling activities for the GBU, working with Industrial controllers in different entities
    Delivery of financial information including detail gap analysis on regular and ad-hoc basis
    Organize & co-ordinate the process for capex and manufacturing costs budgets
    Establish and ensure best practices for industrial subjects – site reporting, manufacturing cost definitions, cost allocations…
    Assist and advise the Industrial team and entities on projects as required (new sites, productivity, acquisitions…)

  • Development of monthly reporting of the manufacturing costs and production volumes, ensuring results are analyzed and variances to budget are understood and explained to the Industrial and GBU management teams
  • Financial data consolidation and follow up of capital expenditure:
  • Gather and consolidate list of capex requirements from the entities, work with Industrial Director to prioritize projects and take the lead for preparation of financial models and data required as part of “Authorization for Capital Expenditure” process.
  • Report monthly spending on capital projects
  • Track savings vs target for significant projects & day to day activities (operational excellence, productivity)
    Define the timelines and manage the processes to establish annual manufacturing costs and capex Budgets, in accordance with BU, Bostik and Arkema requirements, ensuring co-ordination of the various regions and entities involved.
  • Reviews cost structures in the entities and ensures costs as reported are consistent with GBU and Bostik Corporate guidelines and that allocation keys between BU’s are reasonable and consistently applied
  • Acts as the primary finance contact for industrial subjects, supporting GBU and regional BU management in decision making processes and acts as a key contact in managing flow of information to / from GBU and entities
  • Co-ordination of industrial controlling activities for the GBU, working with Industrial controllers in different entities
  • Ensure capital project authorizations are established and signed off in accordance with Bostik and Arkema procedures
  • Develop and manage processes to provide information on profitability by manufacturing site
  • Establish site P&L accounts ensuring optimum use of data from SAP and other ERP systems and consistency of allocation keys for shared costs
  • Develop reporting on manufacturing costs by work center to enable further benchmarking of site performance on key indicators such as cost per manufactured ton and to define best in class cost performance with gap analysis
  • Significant experience (8+ years) in Controlling / Operations, preferably in the chemical industry, but open to other industries.
  • Degree level or equivalent (MBA etc)
  • Fluent in English
  • Developed analytical skills, able to manage high volume of complex data
  • Strong IT skills, must have SAP experience
  • Knowledge of production processes
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work in cross-functional multinational environment.
  • Very good leadership and management skills to set up and drive the new mindset in the operations controlling team.
